The USDLA's mission is to "serve the needs of the distance learning community by providing advocacy, information, networking and opportunity". They have chapters in all fifty states.
The USDLA has several publications including the USDLA Journal and a new publication, Electronic Learning Communities- Issues & Practices. The USDLA is a refereed publication covering topics including: curriculum design, technology, online learning, legislation, and other topics related to learning at a distance.
USDLA offers a certificate in distance learning as well as sponsoring several events both online and virtually.
The USDLA was "the first nonprofit Distance Learning association in the United States to support Distance Learning research, development and praxis across the complete arena of education, training and communications."
Joining the USDLA costs between $30.00 and $125.00 for individuals. Membership provides discounts on USDLA products, journals and events.
